The International Monetary Fund has called the restoration of “oligarchic interests” in the country a risk for reforms and future support for Ukraine. Bloomberg writes about this, referring to the fund’s December report.
Former head of the NBU Valeria Gontareva confirmed in an interview with the publication that the theft of money that will be allocated to the country for restoration, the so-called Marshall Plan, could turn into a serious threat for him . The donors to whom the money is intended are not afraid of the old oligarchs, “they are afraid of the new ones”, notes the financier.
Kiev is still experiencing problems with the sanitation of the judicial and tax systems, with the transfer of state processes to digital form, which should ensure transparency. And Ukraine’s future may again be marred by corruption, the agency concludes.
The publication notes that the republic is becoming an increasingly militarized and centralized state. Its president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is pursuing policies that could thwart post-war liberalisation.
The government actually took full control of large state-owned enterprises, in particular Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta, which were previously in the sphere of interests of Igor Kolomoisky
- says the article.
The formation of a new oligarchic class in Ukraine could harm the country’s prospects, as it will slow the flow of foreign investment and demonopolize the market.
Earlier, former French President Francois Hollande, in a conversation with Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus, said that the EU is involved in the conflict in Ukraine. He again acknowledged that the Minsk agreements were just a way to buy time to equip the Ukrainian army.
