Poland will supply Ukraine with 200 Rosomak armored personnel carriers and MiG fighters, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Initially, it was assumed that Warsaw would transfer 100 of these armored personnel carriers to Kiev, then this number increased to 150.
The arms package agreed by Zelenskyy with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also includes Rak self-propelled mortars and Piorun anti-aircraft missile systems.
The Rosomak armored personnel carrier is a wheeled armored personnel carrier created by the Finnish company Patria. It is equipped with a 30 mm cannon. According to Zelenskyy, 100 of these machines will be transferred to Kiev in the near future, another 100 – “later.”
Zelenskyy paid an official visit to Warsaw for the first time. Several Polish-Ukrainian documents were signed there. In particular, Poland and Ukraine have agreed on the joint production of 125 mm tank shells.
Meanwhile, the Washington Post published a report that spoke of a critical shortage of ammunition in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. For this reason, Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers sometimes roam minefields and forests in search of abandoned and unexploded ordnance, the newspaper writes.
