Using baking soda is one of the most effective ways to clean and disinfect your home. You probably already know some of its most common uses. Furniture, bathroom, microwave oven, upholstery or silverware are just some of the examples where you can apply this simple, versatile and very inexpensive product.

What can be cleaned with baking soda? Well, almost everything. Be sure to take a number of precautions when applying, such as wearing gloves.

How to clean surfaces with baking soda?

Baking soda is a quick and easy way to deep clean kitchen or bathroom surfaces. Apply it to a lightly dampened dish sponge and wipe the surface in question. To keep it spotless and shiny, it must be washed very well and dried thoroughly.

For a more thorough cleaning, mix baking soda with dish soap, apply it to anything you want to clean, and let sit for 5 minutes. Then follow the steps above.

silver cleaning

Baking soda is the best way to quickly remove that very nasty black coating that appears on silver. You just need to prepare the paste and apply it carefully, especially if there are deposits or other materials on the parts.

Add water little by little to ÂĽ cup baking soda until you get a smooth paste. Apply it directly to the items you wish to clean using a soft cloth, working on the most difficult areas. If you see any dirt remaining on the surface, let the product sit for a few minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.

Gold Refining

Gold jewelry that you don’t wear deserves to be cared for to stay beautiful.

Make a paste with a little lemon juice and two tablespoons of baking soda. Leave to infuse and use a soft toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly with water, paying particular attention to any ridges or indentations, as baking soda tends to stick in hard-to-reach places.

garden furniture

Garden furniture or furniture for small terraces suffer from a wide variety of weather conditions. To freshen them up and keep them in good condition, you can clean them by mixing ÂĽ cup of baking soda with ÂĽ cup of warm water. Dilute and use a dish sponge to access more difficult areas like the underside of chairs or tables. Rinse well and dry.

Floor washing

Baking soda is also used as a ceramic floor cleaner (but not waxed) because it removes dirt without scratching or streaking.

Add ÂĽ cup of baking soda to a bucket of warm water and mop the floor. Rinse and let dry.

Carpet cleaning

Baking soda is great for cleaning anything that can’t be washed in water, like most carpets. In addition, you will rid them of the unpleasant bad odors that they accumulate.

It’s easier than it looks. Sprinkle baking soda on your carpet and let it sit for half an hour to absorb dirt and bad smells. Finally, vacuum it to keep it spotless.

Cleaning the sofa upholstery

Try cleaning it with baking soda which, in addition to cleaning, disinfects and eliminates unpleasant odors from the upholstery.

Sprinkle baking soda all over, paying particular attention to seams and other hard-to-reach areas. Leave on for 30 minutes and remove with a vacuum cleaner.

Mattress cleaning

The mattress is one of the problem areas in the bedroom, so its hygiene should be extremely strict.

Sprinkle. To clean your mattress, sprinkle it with baking soda and let it sit for a few hours. This is the best way to neutralize perspiration and other odors. Vacuum the baking soda and wait a little longer before remaking the bed, as the mattress needs time to evaporate all the accumulated moisture.

Garbage can

When you suddenly smell a bad smell in your home and wonder where that smell is coming from, the answer usually lies in the trash can.

Sprinkle baking soda at the bottom of the bucket and it will absorb bad smells. In addition, you should wash it periodically with dishwashing liquid (for example) and a sponge.

Bathroom

The bathroom is the perfect breeding ground for all the germs in the world. But calm down, baking soda will help you in this fight.

You will need 500 ml of water, 2 tablespoons of baking soda and ½ cup of white vinegar. Stir for a few minutes until the effervescent effect wears off and you can begin the cleansing process. Apply, brush, rinse and dry

Fridge

Wipe the inside and outside of the refrigerator and freezer with a cloth dampened with a mixture of baking soda and water. It lightens well and dries better, don’t bad odors disappear? Leave a bowl with a handful of baking soda in the fridge and voila!

Oven

To clean the oven, you will need 90 g of baking soda (half a cup) and lukewarm water. Don’t put it all at once, but rather start with two tablespoons and add as much as you can. The idea is to make a thick paste that can be applied to various components.

Remove the tray and rack from the oven. Wipe the inside with a sponge to remove any residue Apply the paste inside with a brush without touching the resistor or the grille of the fan. Leave to act for 12 hours. Scrape the dry paste with a dish sponge and rinse with a cotton swab, insisting on hard-to-reach areas.

Microwave

Pour into a small bowl of water (about 300 ml), add a tablespoon of baking soda. Squeeze in the juice of half a lemon and discard the zest. Mix and put in the microwave. Turn it on for five minutes. Then leave another half hour without opening the door. Then wipe the surfaces with a cloth and wipe dry.
