Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

If Pakistan leaves this match, then there will be a loss of 3 million dollars

Pakistan Cricket Board chief Najam Sethi has said that if they do not play the Asia Cup this year, there could be a loss of around $3 million in earnings from the tournament.

Sethi said Pakistan was ready to bear the loss as it was a matter of principle.

“We have clearly stated that if the Asia Cup is not held on a hybrid basis (India matches at neutral venues and the rest in Pakistan), then we will not accept or play any other schedule,” he said.

Pakistan is to host the Asia Cup in September but there is ambiguity over the venue of the tournament as India has made it clear that it will not play in Pakistan.

“Defence is no longer an issue for India and we have asked them to show us the written proof if the government is not giving permission to play in Pakistan,” Sethi said.

He said, ‘When other teams including Australia, England, New Zealand are ready to play in Pakistan, India should not have any security issue in coming to Pakistan.’
