Karachi: At least four police officers were killed in a gunfight with militants on Tuesday near Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Senior Superintendent of Police Zuhaib Mohsin said security forces launched an operation against the terrorists in Kuchlak near Quetta on Tuesday morning. He told that the operation was carried out by the police and Frontier Constabulary personnel. During this, the jawans surrounded a house in Kuchlak area, but the terrorists hiding there opened fire on them. He said four police officers were killed in the shootout.
In retaliatory action, one terrorist was killed by the security forces, while the rest managed to escape, the official said. According to the official, the body of the terrorist was taken to Quetta Hospital for identification. In recent days, there has been an increase in terrorist attacks on security forces in Balochistan province. The attacks came days after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC). In the meeting, it was decided to launch a comprehensive campaign against terrorism.
