Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Norwegian Foreign Ministry declares 15 Russian embassy employees persona non grata

Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared 15 Russian embassy employees persona non grata and ordered them to leave the country in the near future.

“The government has decided to declare persona non grata 15 intelligence officers who worked undercover as diplomats in Norway… The officers are due to leave Norway soon,” the agency’s website says.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeld noted that the country wants to maintain normal diplomatic relations with Russia and also wants the Russian side to maintain a diplomatic mission in the country.

According to Huitfeld, the employees were declared persona non grata for supposedly restricting “undesirable intelligence activities.” Also, Norway will not issue visas to Russian intelligence agents.

Earlier it became known that the UK has expanded the list of sanctions against Russia.
