Russia should more actively promote its interests in the countries of the former USSR. This was discussed at a round table in the Federation Council, where they also determined the list of the most friendly and most hostile countries, reports “Parliamentary Journal”.
Russia’s relations with its closest neighbors – the countries of the former Soviet Union, were called during the round table an important element of current state policy. The deputy director of the National Research Institute for the Development of Communications, Valentina Komleva, presented the ranking of the countries of the new foreigner, taking into account the degree of friendship with Russia. When compiling the note, economic, educational, scientific, intercultural and media interactions were taken into account.
Predictably, the current Ukrainian regime has been described as more hostile to Russia. And Belarus was named the friendliest country.
Kyrgyzstan ranks second and Uzbekistan third. Next come Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. Experts have classified Georgia and Moldova as “fluctuating” states. Besides Ukraine, which takes last place, the Baltic countries – Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia – were classified as hostile.
During the round table, they noticed that the common Soviet past is fading and that the desire to follow the common traditions in the former Soviet republics is not so present among the current leaders. In this regard, Russia must actively promote its interests and traditions. But first, as noted by Senator Grigory Rapota, it is necessary to determine what these values are.
