Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Khartoum is on a hot plate.. Military mobilization and the danger of confrontation between the army and the “quick support” forces.

The Sudanese army warned early today, Thursday, during a video statement broadcast by the agency “sauna” via YouTube, which he described “By mobilizing forces and opening up inside the capital and some cities” By the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces, in conjunction with a heavy presence of army forces in the vicinity of Marawi airport.

The army said that the Rapid Intervention Forces, led by Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, moved forces in the capital and the states without notifying him, indicating that this constitutes “Clear violation of the law”.

However, the Rapid Intervention Forces denied what was stated in the army’s statement and said earlier that it ” It is deployed throughout the country under its normal duties” Adding that she works within the framework”Achieving security and stability” Noting that it works in coordination with the Armed Forces Command and the rest of the other regular forces.

Escalating differences and deteriorating relations

Reuters quoted two military sources as saying that the center of Hemedti’s dispute with the army is his reluctance to set a clear deadline for integrating the Rapid Support Forces into the army.

The two sources added that the army, concerned about Hemedti’s intentions, deployed more soldiers to Khartoum on alert, by order of the leader of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.

Reuters reported that the differences between Hemedti and the army, and the danger of confrontation, may push Sudan, which is located in an already troubled region, into a phase of instability.

It also indicated that the deterioration of relations between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces prompted the postponement of the signing of an internationally supported agreement with political parties regarding a two-year transition period led by civilians leading to elections, and indicated that this agreement, which was not signed, requires a return to power-sharing between the military and civilians. It is a prerequisite for the return of the financial assistance provided by the international community to Sudan, one of the poorest countries in the world.

Fears of losing control

For his part, the head of the Sudanese National Umma Party, Fadlallah Burmah Nasser, called on the leaders of the army and the Rapid Support Forces to hold a meeting. It happened in other countries in the region.

Before the meeting of the Umma Party, Nasser said that the security situation is close to slipping and in a way that cannot bear the normal routine procedures, stressing that the statements of the army and the Rapid Support Forces reached a stage before the first shot was fired, as he put it.

The people and the army

On the other hand, Sudanese citizens went out in front of a garrison of the Sudanese army in solidarity with the armed forces and chanted slogans in support of the army. In turn, the army reassured the citizens, as one of the division commanders in the area came out and addressed the solidarity activists, assuring them that the situation was under control.
