Russian chess player Ian Nepomniachtchi lost to Chinese Ding Liren in the sixth game of the World Chess Championship title match. The seventh batch is scheduled for April 18.
According to RBC, this is Nepomniachtchi’s second loss against Liren. This time the Russian played with black pieces and decided to resign on move 44 of the game.
The classic chess world title match takes place in Astana from April 7 to May 1, 2023. It consists of 14 games.
Nepomniachtchi won the second and fifth games, but lost the fourth. The rest ended in a draw. The Russian has odds of 2793, while his opponent has odds of 2788. Current world champion Magnus Carlsen has refused to defend his title.
Earlier, The Eastern Herald in Kaliningrad reported that chess competitions among pensioners took place in Kaliningrad. The first place was taken by the Sovetsk team.
