Recall that the French Constitutional Council has approved the pension reform, including its key article, which is to raise the retirement age in France from 62 to 64 by 2030.
- As you know, the Constitutional Council on Friday encouraged the recognition of the pension reform as legal. I, logically, immediately promulgated this law. The pension reform will come into effect in the fall, Macron said.
As the French leader said, the reform was “obviously” not accepted by society.
“I regret that no consensus has been found on this,” Macron added.
Earlier, French media reported that after the decision of the Constitutional Council, protesters against the pension reform again went to a mass demonstration in Paris.
It was also noted that a wave of popular discontent swept the country. The most important actions take place in Marseille, Toulouse, Rennes, Nantes, Lyon, Montpellier and Lille.
