In the Angara region, a native of Chuvashia was convicted of fraud

In Angarsk, a sentence was pronounced against a native of Chuvashia who, in prison, committed a number of telephone frauds.

As established by the investigation conducted by the police and the court, serving a sentence in the settlement of the Saratov region, the man called the institutions of the Russian regions, introduced himself as an employee of the authority surveillance, reported on the upcoming inspection and asked to transfer money for the inspectors’ reception expenses: setting the table, buying gifts, paying for food.

Some of these calls proved successful: employees of organizations believed the scammer and gave their credit card numbers. Thus, the fraudster received almost half a million rubles from 24 residents of 12 regions.

The court found the native of Chuvashia guilty of fraud and attempted fraud and sentenced him to seven years in prison in a strict regime colony.
