The State Duma adopted in first reading a draft law providing for granting the Donbass militias the status of veterans.
It is proposed to make changes to the law “On veterans”. Thus, this status will be granted to persons who, from May 12, 2014, by decision of the executive authorities of the DPR and the LPR, took part in hostilities during the military conflict in the Donbass.
In late March, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law granting veteran status to participants in a special military operation.
Also in the lower and upper houses of parliament last month, there were proposals to extend social support to all widows of veterans.
