The Metropolitan of Kostroma informs that the work on the installation of the iconostasis is nearing completion in the Epiphany Cathedral of the Kostroma Kremlin. All his images have already taken their place, it remains only to install a few small elements in the salaries – this is work for a few days.
The iconostasis is being restored from photographs from the beginning of the 20th century, the icons in it depict the saints associated with the territory of Kostroma: here is Nikita the Builder and the Feodorovskaya icon of the Mother of God and other locally venerated saints.
40 icons in the Yaroslavl style of the 17th century were painted by masters of the Moscow icon-painting workshop “Tsargrad”, and the frame of the iconostasis was made by sculptors from workshops in Abramtsevo near Moscow. Entrepreneur-philanthropist Viktor Tyryshkin finances the restoration of the temple. Patriarch Cyril of Moscow and all Rus’ are expected to come to Kostroma for the consecration of the Epiphany Cathedral in September this year.
