What message are you giving by releasing the convicts, Supreme Court asks Gujarat government in Bilkis case

New Delhi. The Supreme Court heard the matter of premature release of the convicts in the Bilkis Bano case. In her petition, Bilkis Bano has challenged the decision to release 11 convicts in the Supreme Court. During the hearing, a bench of Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagaratna asked the government the reason for the release of the convicts. The court said, today it happened to Bilkis, tomorrow it can happen to anyone.

The court asked the Center and the Gujarat government to present the files related to premature release of the convicts. If you don’t give reasons for releasing the culprits, we will draw our own conclusions. The court has asked the Center and the state government to file counter affidavits in the matter by May 1 by presenting the file. ASG SV Raju appeared in the court on behalf of the Center and the Gujarat government. He said that we will consider filing a review petition against the order of the Supreme Court, in which the release file has been sought. The next hearing of the matter will be on May 2 at 2 pm.

At the same time, the Supreme Court said that this is a case where a pregnant woman was gangraped and her seven relatives were murdered. How can you compare apples to oranges. How can you compare the killing of one person with mass murder. It is a crime against a community and society. We believe that you should use your power and discretion for the good of the public. What message are you giving by releasing the culprits.
