The European Union considers that there will be no more new anti-Russian sanctions. The introduction of additional restrictions will lead to an increase in exceptions to them. This is reported by the Financial Times, citing an anonymous official.
“We are done. If we impose more sanctions, there will be more exceptions than measures,” the source said.
Western officials are confident that when drawing up a new sanctions package, the EU will limit itself to a list of people and strengthen existing measures. Previously unaffected sectors of the Russian economy are important for Europe.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin said anti-Russian sanctions would be in place for a long time. According to the president, it is necessary to work out measures for the sovereign development of the country in the long term.
He also gave an assessment to Western companies that reduced their activities in the Russian Federation after the start of the special operation. According to the head of state, such companies cannot be called “combatants”.
