The League of Arab States called on the Sudanese parties, whether in the armed forces or the Rapid Support Forces, to declare a cease-fire during the days of Eid al-Fitr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, said, in a televised message broadcast on the Arab League’s website today, "I appeal to the Sudanese parties, and even swear by them in the name of Islam, Arabism and humanity, to declare a cease-fire during the holidays, allowing the population to catch a breath and deal with critical and urgent humanitarian cases.". added: "I have received several appeals during the past hours from our people in Sudan and outside Sudan that there are those who suffer from stressful and dangerous conditions. I convey these humanitarian appeals and place them before the eyes of the warring parties, reminding them that the holy month has sanctity and that the fasting person has two joys, one of which is when he breaks his fast, so do not make Eid a time of grief for the people of Sudan, but let the days of Eid be a truce in which the shooting between the two parties ceases in a comprehensive and complete way, allowing people to be provided with food, and the sick to obtain medicine". And the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States continued: "This message is a message of a purely human appeal that has nothing to do with the political position on the crisis, nor with the responsibility of any party for its outbreak or continuation.. The priority now is for the civilian people of Sudan.. Arab chivalry obliges us to take into account the weak who do not bear arms, and our true religion imposes on us Even in wartime observance of human values and moral principles".
