The first open regional festival of Russian choral music, organized by the Pomor Philharmonic, was dedicated to Tatyana Popova, who, according to her colleagues and students, was the personification of a true Russian musician and educator.

12 choirs from Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk and Novodvinsk took part in the first open regional festival. They performed works by Russian composers, including Soviet and contemporary ones, as well as Russian folk music.

The groups were evaluated by cultural and artistic personalities, heads and teachers of cultural and art educational institutions, specialists in the field of music education and creativity.

The festival commission was headed by guest expert from St. Petersburg Larisa Yarutskaya, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, member of the Board of Directors of the Union of St. Petersburg Concert Workers and co-chair of the section of choir conductors of the Pedagogical and Methodological Center of the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg.

As part of the festival, Larisa Yarutskaya held a series of master classes where she demonstrated methods of working with choirs.

The festival ended with a round table for the leaders, where they discussed topical issues of work with children’s choirs, performance of Russian classical music and prospects for the development of the performance of children’s choirs.
