April 23, 2023

Electric trains will be launched between Crimea and the Kherson region in May, regional government chairman Andrei Alekseenko wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the first electric trains will connect Genichesk and Dzhankoy, and fares will be low.

“The fare will be social – significantly lower than that of the bus”, – said Alekseenko.

He also noted that the repair of the Genichesk railway station is being completed and in the future it will become a modern transport and exchange center, which will also house a bus station and where urban and suburban routes will be connected.

In February, the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, announced the launch of the region’s railway connection with the new subjects of the Russian Federation. According to him, it is physically possible to do all this, but safety remains a priority.
