Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

South Korea to extend restrictions on exports to Russia and Belarus

From April 28, the South Korean authorities intend to expand the list of goods whose export to Russia and Belarus requires obtaining special permission from the government. The corresponding list will increase from 57 to 798 positions, the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said in a statement.

The updated list includes equipment for industries and construction, steel and chemical products, items used in the automotive industry, as well as car parts worth more than $50,000. Additionally, the list includes conductors and quantum computers.

The draft, along with amendments to the document, was submitted by the South Korean ministry on February 24. Over the next two months, the document went through all the necessary legislative procedures.

Companies that received export permits under the old commodity list before April 27 will not have to reapply.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the ban on exporting almost all goods to the Russian Federation discussed at the level of representatives of the G7 countries. According to the press secretary of the President of Russia, this threatens a global economic crisis.
