Kirby on denying visas to Russian journalists: Russian state media are propaganda outlets

White House Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby explained the non-issuance of US visas to Russian reporters in the pool, who were supposed to accompany Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his visit to the UN headquarters in New York.

Kirby gave the reason in an interview with CNN. His quote from the interview was transmitted by the UrduPoint portal.

“Russian state media are propaganda outlets,” Kirby said. “We think it is important to defend the freedom of the press, the independence of the press, which must be free to do its job.”

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov condemned the United States for not issuing visas to Russian journalists. According to him, it is a confirmation of the fact that “colleagues in Washington are not something that cannot be trusted, they simply should not be listened to”.

Sergei Lavrov arrived in New York on April 24, where the meetings of the UN Security Council will be held. The Russian Foreign Minister will chair them.
