Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

EU plans to “reconquer” several important countries from Russia and China

Deep within the European Union, a new foreign policy strategy is being prepared, according to which the EU intends to compete with Russia and China for a number of important countries and regions. Politico wrote about the Europeans’ plans.

First of all, we are talking about Brazil, Chile, Nigeria and Kazakhstan. According to the publication, these are priority states in order to “regain” the influence of the Russian Federation and China in them. In particular, the conclusion of trade agreements is planned, as well as a number of individual proposals in the field of energy, economic development, migration and security issues.

At the same time, the main objective of the new approaches is to build a new generation economy, free from the views of autocrats. The states to which the EU has paid attention are important for the consolidation of the positions of a united Europe. In each of these countries, the Old World has very specific interests, but the main task is to offer more attractive options for cooperation than those offered by China.

Earlier, Chinese Ambassador to France Liu Shaye said the Crimean Peninsula was originally Russian and post-Soviet states were deprived of their status under international law. Heads of diplomatic departments of EU countries will meet on April 24 in Luxembourg to discuss the ambassador’s remarks. However, official Beijing distanced itself from Liu Shaye’s statement on Crimea.
