The adoption by the European Union (EU) of a new 11th package of anti-Russian restrictions will take place in the second half of May at the earliest. This statement was made by Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, whose statement is quoted by TASS.
According to him, the EU cannot agree on what should be subject to sanctions.
“Some states articulate what they think should be in there, like diamond sanctions. Others, on the contrary, say that diamonds are more likely not to be directly affected. Therefore, I think the issue will be closed in the second half of May at the earliest,” the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry said after the meeting of the EU Council at the level of foreign ministers.
Earlier, European politicians were not ready to agree on another list of restrictions against Russia just yet, Eurodiplomacy chief Josep Borrell said. He also noted that the question of Rosatom’s inclusion in the sanctions package remains open.
