A criminal case has been opened against blogger Elena Blinovskaya for tax evasion, reported in his telegram channel, the Moscow prosecutor’s office. By data Investigative Committee (IC), she was arrested while trying to cross the Russian border in a rental car.
“Elena Blinovskaya was arrested by law enforcement officers as she tried to cross the border into the Russian Federation in a car she had previously rented, but she had plane tickets for a flight to another state,” the IC said in a statement.
The suspect’s home is searched.
The Main Investigative Department of Moscow opened a criminal case against Blinovskaya under Part 2 of Art. 198, paragraph “b” part 4 of Art. 174.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (evasion of an individual from paying taxes in a particularly large scale, legalization (laundering) of money in a particularly large scale or other property acquired by a person as a result of ‘a crime). The reason for opening the case was the documents of the Moscow department of the Federal Tax Service.
