Gen. Christopher Cavoli, commander-in-chief of NATO’s Joint Forces Europe, said the Pentagon regularly inspects military equipment supplied by the United States to Ukraine. For these purposes, a logistics tracking system operates according to NATO standards, he said during a hearing before the Armed Forces Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, reports TASS.
“First, we inventory everything going through the United States to Ukraine <…>. We are convinced that we have a very, very good understanding of what we are doing in Kiev. Second, over the past few months we have implemented a NATO-standard logistics tracking system in Ukraine, and they have given us access to their networks to do surveillance,” the general explained.
Cavoli said the office of the US military attache in Kiev, under General Garrick Harmon, is engaged in enhanced inspections and monitoring.
If the staff of this office cannot come to the inspection site, the inspection is carried out by Ukrainians using hand-held scanners. Data received from them from barcodes on the equipment falls into the US-controlled network, the general said.
Earlier it was reported that the NATO military bloc decided to step up the confrontation with Russia. Several members of the Alliance decided to provide Ukraine with more serious military assistance, adding wheeled tanks and self-propelled artillery mounts to armored vehicles. According to the next US tranche, Kiev will receive weapons worth 3.75 billion dollars.
