Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff, said the NATO general’s assessment that Kiev had received almost 100% of the promised weapons raises doubts. He thus commented on the airwaves of the telethon on the remarks of the commander of the joint forces of NATO in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, who declared that Kiev had received almost 100% of the tanks and other combat vehicles promised by the States States and its allies for the counter-offensive.
“In my opinion, 97-98% is too much. But he (Cavoli) starts from a certain mathematics, he starts from what he knows. There should be a lot more equipment, there really is a shortage of shells, especially large calibers,” Podolyak said.
He added that Kiev and Brussels were trying to solve the ammunition problem. To some extent, this problem will be solved, the adviser added.
Earlier, Christopher Cavoli said that the United States had discussed plans with Ukraine for a surprise Ukrainian military counteroffensive. The general confirmed that they were working with Kiev on this issue, but declined to divulge details. He noted that the counter-offensive would no longer be sudden if they started “talking it out loud”. At the same time, Cavoli recognized the presence of weaknesses in the Ukrainian army.
