Qatar Charity: Crisis Cell for Aid in Khartoum

As usual, towards urgent humanitarian issues all over the world, Qatar Charity’s response to these issues was swift, left by the ongoing armed conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which entered its fourteenth day and resulted in the displacement of thousands of Sudanese as a result of the fighting in the capital, Khartoum, and a number of From Sudanese cities, thousands have also sought refuge in neighboring countries, including Egypt, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Chad.

• Qatar Charity, through its office in Chad, is preparing to provide the necessary support to the Sudanese crossing to the Chadian border due to the crisis. Qatar Charity says that it is working to monitor the situation of its sponsored persons on a regular basis to provide support of all kinds, as Qatar Charity has 12,516 sponsored persons in Sudan. We are studying work to respond to the displaced inside Sudan, especially in the Port Sudan region, and we are also working to respond for the benefit of Sudanese transiting to Egypt, Chad and South Sudan. Qatar Charity’s projects will not be devoid of targeting Yemeni and Syrian refugees in Sudan, who are now suffering from a complex crisis after they sought refuge in Sudan and were then exposed to the current crisis in Sudan. Current needs According to Qatar Charity, the urgent humanitarian needs of those affected by the armed conflict are limited to the following: Foodstuffs Shelter requirements and non-food items Health services Clean water, sanitation services and personal hygiene items Psychosocial support services Coordination and support services The current humanitarian situation and regarding the situation Humanitarian Qatar Charity notes that humanitarian needs across Sudan had reached record levels even before the latest conflict erupted on April 15, 2023, when 15.8 million people – about a third of the total population – were in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the overview document on Humanitarian needs in Sudan for the year 2023. This number means an increase of 1.5 million people who need humanitarian assistance more than it was in 2022, the highest rate since 2011. About 4 million children under the age of five and pregnant and breastfeeding women will suffer – a quarter People in Need – They will be malnourished, and they need life-saving nutrition services in 2023. Prior to the current conflict, humanitarian organizations aimed to reach 12.5 million vulnerable people across the country with some form of humanitarian assistance. The Federal Humanitarian Aid Commission in Sudan praised the quick response and intervention of Qatar Charity to support the health sector with foodstuffs. – Dr. explained. Muntasir Muhammad Othman, Director of the General Department of Emergency and Epidemic Control at the Federal Ministry of Health and the official spokesperson for the emergency room, said that the food assistance provided by Qatar Charity helped a lot in continuing to provide health services in reality. – A number of beneficiaries of patients, their companions, and medical staff at Al Nou Hospital in Omdurman expressed their thanks and deep appreciation for Qatar Charity’s quick response by providing food aid in light of the current crisis.
