With the help of Fakhar Zaman’s second consecutive century, Pakistan registered a comfortable seven-wicket win against New Zealand in the second ODI. Fakhar, who scored 117 in the first ODI, scored 180 off 144 balls in the second ODI to help Pakistan post their second-highest total in this format.

New Zealand scored 336 for five with Daryl Mitchell (129 off 119 balls, eight fours, three sixes) scoring his second consecutive century and a career-best innings. In response, Fakhar’s brilliant innings helped Pakistan to a comfortable 337 for three in 48.2 overs and take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

New Zealand gave Fakhar two lives soon after completing his half-century, which he took full advantage of. He hit 17 fours and six sixes in his innings. Apart from this, Fakhar shared an unbroken partnership of 135 with captain Babar Azam (65) and 119 with Rizwan (54 not out). Fakhar targeted New Zealand spinners Ish Sodhi (1 for 79) and Rachin Ravindra (75 not out). Both these spinners looted 154 runs in 20 overs.

Earlier, Mitchell shared a 183-run partnership for the third wicket with Latham (98 off 85 balls, eight fours, one six) to take New Zealand to a big score. Opener Chad Bowes also contributed with 51 runs. Thanks to Mitchell and Latham, the New Zealand team was able to add 98 runs in the last 10 overs.
