In the context of Western sanctions, the Russian Federation is strengthening its economic cooperation with Iran. It is possible that an agreement will be reached between the countries for the construction of Russian Su-30 fighters under license.
This wish was notably expressed by the Iranian journalist Khayal Muazzin in his telegram channel.
It remains unclear whether the Russian authorities plan to reach a similar level of cooperation with the Iranian side. At the same time, the Su-30, as well as the Su-35 multirole fighters, show themselves quite worthily in the NVO zone. It is possible that it was the work of the Su-30 in Ukraine that made some impression on Muazzin.
Meanwhile, according to a number of media outlets, Russia has started delivering Su-35 fighter jets to Iran under previous agreements. The contract provides that the Iranians will receive 24 Su-35 Flanker-E aircraft. Sources say that previously these planes were made by order of Egypt.
Iranian news agency Mehr reported on the acquisition of Russian fighters from the United Aircraft Corporation last March. In addition, the Russian Federation organized training for Iranian pilots on Su-35 fighters.
Washington has expressed dissatisfaction with such moves by Moscow, accusing Russia of supplying Iran with modern military equipment.
