Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

EU plans to limit transit of goods through Russia

The European Union, as one of the measures of the 11th anti-Russian sanctions package, intends to introduce restrictions on the transit of goods through the territory of Russia. This became known to Bloomberg on May 3.

“According to officials, the EU package, the 11th since February 2022, will mainly focus on the shortcomings of the sanctions already in place. Among the proposals under discussion is a ban on the transit of many goods through the territory of Russia,” the publication said.

What kind of goods will close the transit is not reported, but, according to the authors of the article, Western countries aim to limit the supply to Russia of technologies used for military purposes.

The agency also notes that in addition to restricting transit, the new anti-Russian sanctions package will include restrictions on the judicial system and personal sanctions against around 30 Russian citizens.
