Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday May 8 signed a decree on the celebration of Europe Day in the country instead of Victory Day on May 9. The document was published on the official website of the Head of State.
Establishing the Day of Europe in Ukraine, which is celebrated annually on May 9 with the states of the European Union, indicates the text of the document.
In his video message posted on Telegram, Zelenskyy said Europe Day would now be celebrated every year. And on May 8, the President of Ukraine proposed to celebrate the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II.
Until that time, May 9 in Ukraine was celebrated as the Day of Victory over Nazism in World War II, and May 8 as the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation. The red poppy has become a symbol of victory for Ukrainians in European style.
Earlier, it was reported that on the website of petitions to President Nezalezhnaya on May 1, a proposal appeared to establish the Bandera Order as a reward for “courage and heroism in protecting the integrity territory of Ukraine”.
