Houston: Nine people, including an Indian engineer, were killed when a gunman opened fire at a crowded mall in the US state of Dallas, Texas. Officials gave this information on Monday. The firing incident took place on Saturday around 03:30 pm at ‘Allen Premium Outlets’. McKinney resident Aishwarya Thatikonda was shopping with a friend when gunman Mauricio Garcia opened fire, according to the New York Post newspaper. At least eight people died in this incident. A police officer then shot the 33-year-old attacker, Garcia.
Aishwarya used to work as a project engineer in Perfect General Contractors Company. A representative of her family confirmed to a television station that Aishwarya was among the victims of the violence. The TV station reported that she worked in Texas and her family lives in India. According to the news, Aishwarya’s family plans to take her body back to India. According to Aishwarya’s LinkedIn profile, she had been working as a project engineer in Dallas for over two years.
Following the shooting, police searched a home belonging to Garcia’s parents in Dallas. At the same time, the officers also searched a hotel where the attacker was staying. According to the statistics related to the shooting incident in America, there have been at least 198 such incidents in the country so far in 2023. It is noteworthy that on May 24 last year, an assailant opened fire at a school in Texas, killing 19 children and two adults.
