New Delhi. On completion of 8 years of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said that these three public security schemes are dedicated for the betterment of the citizens and are not unpredictable Provides protection to human life against risks, losses and financial uncertainties.
Total enrollment of PMJJBY is more than 16 crore, PMSBY is more than 34 crore and APY is more than 5 crore. PMJJBY, PMSBY and APY were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 9 May 2015 from Kolkata. All these three schemes are dedicated for the welfare of the citizens to meet the need of securing human life from unforeseen event and financial uncertainties. The government launched two insurance schemes – PMJJBY and PMSBY to ensure that the unorganized sector of the country remains financially secure.
Along with this, the government also launched the Atal Pension Yojana- APY to help meet the needs of old age. Recalling the vision behind these three public safety schemes, Smt. Sitharaman said, “The National Financial Inclusion Mission was launched in the year 2014 with the primary objective of ensuring that every citizen of India has access to banking facilities, These three Jan Suraksha Yojanas were launched with the aim of increasing financial literacy and social security coverage and further promoting financial inclusion in the country.
The Finance Minister said that these three social security schemes are dedicated for the betterment of the citizens, recognizing the importance of protecting human life in the face of unforeseen risks, losses and financial uncertainties. The objective of these schemes is to provide financial services to people from underprivileged background, thereby removing their financial weakness. Citing figures, he said that till April 26, 2023, 16.2 crore, 34.2 crore and 5.2 crore enrollments have been done under PMJJBY, PMSBY and APY respectively.
