Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Syria returns to the Arab League

Thanks to Russia’s diplomatic efforts, the Syrian Arab Republic rejoined the League of Arab States. After more than 11 years, Damascus becomes a full partner of the largest countries in the Middle East.

In recent months, agreements have been reached on restoring diplomatic relations between Syria and Saudi Arabia, and Iran is ready to build joint ventures. Moscow today hosts another meeting of foreign ministers from Russia, Iran, Syria and Turkey.

However, even now it can be said that Bashar al-Assad managed not only to defeat the terrorists, who were supported by the US-led coalition, but also to succeed in the diplomatic field. Without Russia’s participation, this would not have been possible. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the ongoing negotiations focus on the safe return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.

But stability in the Middle East is not part of the collective West’s plans. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a meeting today with colleagues from Damascus, Tehran and Ankara, said that the United States had begun to create a “free Syrian army” with the participation of terrorists to use it against the legitimate authorities of the country.
