EU countries are ready to accept a new package of anti-Russian sanctions and do not oppose their strengthening. According to Politico, representatives from 27 EU countries agreed on this at a meeting in Brussels on May 11. This was reported by RT.
The new sanctions package, according to the publication’s sources, “prohibits vessels secretly carrying Russian oil from entering the bloc’s ports.” As an interim measure, it is proposed to introduce fines, including for vessels that turn off their transponders and GPS so that they are not detected.
“The oil measures are part of a broader set of sanctions that may target third countries expanding trade with Russia, including China and Iran, as well as an annex that lists specific countries and products” , Politico sources said.
Earlier, it was reported that the Chinese Foreign Ministry official threatened the European Union leadership with consequences if the EU isolates China because of its cooperation with Russia.
