The EU’s security architecture must exclude the possibility of a confrontation with Russia

The security architecture of the Member States of the European Union should imply the absence of a possible confrontation with Russia and guarantee the security of Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by French leader Emmanuel Macron in an interview with Opinion.

“I have always said that in the future, the European security architecture should fully guarantee Ukraine’s security. But that should include not confronting Russia and rebuilding a lasting balance,” he said.

According to the President of France, this is not so easy to achieve and is only possible after overcoming a number of stages. He also expressed the idea that helping Kyiv in the counter-offensive is one of Europe’s tasks.

Furthermore, Macron said that the Russian Federation would have already suffered a “geopolitical defeat” and begun to “fall into vassal dependence” on the PRC.

On the evening of Sunday May 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Paris. As part of the meeting with his French counterpart, he intends to discuss the mechanisms of pressure on Russia and the new aid from France to Kyiv.
