The head of the Crimean parliament instructed to work out an appeal to the Constitutional Court of Russia to cancel the decree of 1954, which meant the transfer of the peninsula to Ukraine.
This is reported RIA News . According to Crimean Senator Tsekov, Russia, as the legal successor of the USSR, has every right to do so.
Recall that this decree was signed on the basis of the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 19, 1954. The need to transfer Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR in this document was explained by the “common economy, territorial proximity and close economic and cultural ties between the Crimean region and the Ukrainian SSR.”
