Russian tankers fought off the Ukrainian Armed Forces for 10 hours, barricading themselves in a wrecked tank

May 16, 2023

Ministry of Defense of Russia published a video in which the chief of staff of the tank battalion, senior lieutenant Ilya Baganov, said that he and his crew fought off the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a wrecked tank for 10 hours, but still managed to get through to his own.

The tanker said that he was advancing on the stronghold of the Ukrainians in the head patrol, but his car was blown up by a landmine and thus cut off from the main troops. As a result of this, the tankers had to fight for 10 hours with the enemy forces, and only after dark did they manage to beat their own.

“I got a little lost there, of course, ran through the Ukrainian trenches, pulled out the entire crew,” Baganov said.

In total, the tank received 10 hits from a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher from a short distance, but the defense withstood everything. After the crew got out of the car, they realized that they were on the Ukrainian fortifications.

“I saw a man in the distance who is sitting with a flashlight. And when he turned, he shone, it turns out, on his sleeve, and there was a yellow bandage, ”said the officer.

Then the Russians realized that they were sitting in the wrong place and, having contacted the battalion commander, received a referral, and then crawled out of the trenches.

“About three in the morning we went out to our people. There we were met and sent to the hospital, ”summed up the tanker.

According to information from the Russian Ministry of Defense, the entire crew of the tank was injured. The commander – from fragments, the driver – in the legs and face, and the gunner was seriously shell-shocked, writes RIA News .
