SCO strengthens China-India cooperation relations: Dr. Sandeep Bhatt

India hosted a two-day meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on 4 and 5 May. The meeting was attended by foreign ministers of SCO member countries under the chairmanship of India’s External Affairs Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar. The Foreign Minister-level meeting was attended by Murat Nertleu, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Qin Kang, Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Jeenbek Kulubaev, Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyar Saidov, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming, and Director of the SCO RATS Executive Committee Ruslan Mirzayev attended the meeting and delivered their remarks.

China Media Group’s journalist Divya Pandey talked to Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication Dr. Sandeep Bhatt, senior media professor, regarding this meeting of SCO. Dr. Sandeep says that this meeting holds a very important place in the Asian context and it is also very important from the global point of view. He believes that even in the midst of instability in international politics, there can be many possibilities of new initiatives in this meeting.

On making Iran and Belarus a formal member of the organization, Dr. Sandeep believes that this will give a new direction to the economy of the entire Asian region. China and India are fast growing economies and both the countries are continuously moving ahead in manufacturing as well. He believes that if there are new contracts or agreements regarding business between China and India in the future, it will prove to be very beneficial for both the countries and mutual harmony will get a new direction which will prove to be helpful in the gradual growth of the economy.
