October 2, 2025

On May 15, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee, met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijzarto Peter in Beijing. Meanwhile, Wang Yi said that China’s development is the growth of a peaceful power, which is the growth of global stability. Hungary has always looked at China’s development with an objective and friendly attitude. The two sides respect, trust, understand, and support each other, so that the relations between the two countries are passing through the best period in history.

Wang Yi said that China supports Europe’s strategic independence. The Cold War mentality and collective confrontation are not conducive to Europe’s long-term development. China is willing to cooperate with the EU member states, including Hungary, to safeguard genuine multilateralism, promote the democratization of international relations, and push the global governance system in a more just and reasonable direction.

Szijjarto said that Hungary appreciates China’s efforts to find a political solution to the Ukraine crisis. Hungary-China cooperation and Europe-China cooperation are opportunities, not risks. Hungary welcomes China to invest more capital in Hungary, and looks forward to upgrading cooperation with China in various fields.
