China-Central Asia high-level media dialogue and exchange activity held

The China-Central Asia Summit will be held from May 18 to 19. Earlier on May 16, under the auspices of the China Media Group (CMG), the China-Central Asia Media High-Level Dialogue and Exchange Activity, with the participation of media organizations from five Central Asian countries, was successfully held in Beijing. Leaders of CMG and major media organizations of Central Asian countries, envoys of Central Asian countries to China, experts and scholars participated in the activity. They had an in-depth exchange of views on the topic of “Chinese-style Modernization and Central Asia: New Development and New Opportunities”, and discussed the new mission and new responsibility of the media in the process of modernization of human society.

CMG Director General Shan Haixiong said that the “Belt and Road” initiative was the first to be presented in Central Asia. The high-quality construction of the “Belt and Road” in the region over the past 10 years has yielded abundant fruitful results, bringing greater stability and certainty to regional peace and prosperity. As a bridge to promote mutual understanding and friendship among the people of different countries, the media plays an indispensable role in the process of modernization of mankind.

According to Shan Haixiong, the CMG presented three proposals. First, under the leadership of the Heads of State’s diplomacy, the strong voice of China-Central Asia cooperation should be heard continuously. Second, tell rich and colorful modernization stories based on hands-on collaboration. Third, promote exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Central Asian media, relying on the platform mechanism.

During the activity, leaders of major media organizations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan expressed their desire to strengthen media cooperation between China and Central Asian countries in their respective speeches, and noted that the current China-Central Asia Summit The event will provide a wonderful opportunity for media cooperation between different countries.

In addition, a promotional video for “The Love of Central Asia – Exhibition of Chinese Film and TV Programs” was also released in the activity. The China Media Group is reported to have held a series of media activities in various places around the world since March to date, in the context of “Chinese-style modernization”. 1034 major media from 93 countries and regions jointly participated or reported, reaching more than 1.06 billion overseas viewers.
