Al-Qadir Trust case: Imran Khan may stay away from NAB hearing

– Published on:

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan is likely to skip appearing before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday and give a written response to the questionnaire. According to reports, the anti-corruption watchdog has summoned the former prime minister at 10 am today in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case. Sources told local media that Mr Khan’s legal team has advised him not to appear before the NAB in person and instead give written answers to 20 questions in the corruption case, including a property case is included.

The NAB Rawal Pindi chapter had on May 18 summoned Imran Khan and several other PTI leaders in connection with its probe into the Al-Qadir Trust case. It is notable that the anti-corruption body sought details of the former prime minister in connection with its 2019 probe into UK’s National Crime Agency (NSA) assets worth ÂŁ190 million. Khan is currently out on bail in the case.

The NAB has directed Khan to bring all documents related to the NCA probe and Al-Qadir University including land papers, trust deeds and bank statements etc. The anti-corruption watchdog has also warned the PTI chief of legal action in case he does not comply with the summons.
