NATO creates defense plan in case of conflict with Russia

– Published on:

NATO is creating the first post-Cold War defense plan in the event of an armed conflict with Russia due to an unstable international security situation, Reuters reports, citing Admiral Rob Bauer, head of the military committee of the covenant.

“We have to be prepared for the fact that conflict can arise at any time,” he said.

It is clarified that the previously developed guidelines and documents do not correspond to the hypothetical situation of a war with the Russian Federation, since the North Atlantic Alliance has long focused on conflicts of such magnitude and much lower intensity. NATO must rethink the concept of modernization and logistics of its units.

It is also reported that the plan, which “will take thousands of pages of paper text”, will be presented and approved at the alliance summit in Vilnius on July 11-12.

Earlier, Rob Bauer had said that the countries of the alliance should be prepared for a possible conflict. He stressed the need to further strengthen collective defense.
