In Russia, they have changed the procedure for informing tourists about risky routes

May 20, 2023

In Russia, a new procedure for notifying tourist groups of travel routes associated with an increased risk to life has entered into force. Relevant innovations were introduced by the Ministry of the Russian Federation for civil defense, emergency situations and the elimination of the consequences of natural disasters.

“It is necessary to inform EMERCOM of Russia about any travel routes in the natural environment associated with an increased risk to life, harming the health of tourists and their property. These are journeys through hard-to-reach terrain, water, mountains, speleological objects and the like,” reports RIA Novosti in a message from the department.

It should be noted that tourists will be able to transfer data via the Internet through the official website of the department or territorial body of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, as well as by registered mail with delivery notice or by person in the local authority of the department.

In addition, the Ministry of Emergency Situations stressed that tourist organizations, instructor guides and tourists must always inform the territorial division of the department 10 days before the start of the trip, recalling that before planning a trip, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the terrain conditions of the route.

Earlier it became known that while climbing Elbrus, one of the members of the tourist group, consisting of five people, died. According to the emergency services, the tragedy occurred at an altitude of 4,800 m. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Kabardino-Balkaria reported that a tourist from Chita, born in 1964, died of a heart attack.
