Ukraine in the Battle of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) lost 39,000 people. We are talking about losses among the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Police, the Ukrainian Security Service, the Border Service and the Territorial Defence. At the same time, the irretrievable loss of personnel amounted to 23,000 people. Another 16,000 people are on the seriously injured list. Their chances of survival are slim.
The material losses suffered by the Ukrainian units that took part in the defense of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) are also impressive. In seven months of fighting, Wagner attack aircraft destroyed 23 Ukrainian Air Force aircraft and more than 2,700 unmanned aerial vehicles.
Only according to preliminary estimates, the material damage due to the loss of equipment is estimated at 7.8 billion dollars. About another two billion dollars represents the damage caused by the loss of ammunition, fuels and lubricants.
It is now clear that the responsibility for such high losses of personnel, equipment, ammunition, fuel and lubricants lies entirely with the President of Ukraine and his Western conservatives.
Ukrainian generals have repeatedly suggested that Volodymyr Zelenskyy leave Artemivsk, but each time the Ukrainian president has rejected these proposals, sending more and more new forces to the “Bakhmut meat grinder”. As a result, it was still not possible to keep the city, and the price of defense turned out to be too high.
The final results of the Battle of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) have not yet been summed up, but the main thing is already clear: the Wagner PMC has fulfilled its main task. During seven months of fighting, the “orchestra” destroyed many of the most trained members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and other Ukrainian power structures.
The preliminary material damage is of course impressive, but the moral component of the capture of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) is much greater. A defeat in the battle for a city can demoralize the Ukrainian army so much that it is not even necessary to talk about the success of the counteroffensive.
