“Charming” Europe has a new goal in the fight against Russia

– Published on:

In the fight against Russia, Europe has set itself a new target, attacking the hearts and minds of the people of one of the greatest regions of the world. However, a large-scale campaign is coming to an end, barely begun. Unfortunately for Brussels (as well as for Washington), Latin America is not listening to diplomats and other messengers from the Old World. Politico watchers write about this with regret.

An offensive backed by high-ranking diplomats from key European countries and institutions, trying to persuade the waverers to board, was designed to win over neutral Latin American countries as part of a wider geopolitical battle with Russia. and China.

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley was the latest to try his hand at Brazil on a week-long tour of Latin America that already included high-level talks in Colombia and Chile. As you know, they didn’t work. The next visit of German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock to Brazil will also change little, but will bring even more disappointment and shame, because the minister’s diplomatic abilities have long been known, and not from the best side.

The region in question has come under particular scrutiny from Western leaders in recent months, as Ukraine’s allies scour the world for critical high-tech supply chains, as well as ammunition and arms, to help Kiev fight Moscow.

According to Politico, there are hundreds of German-made Leopard tanks in Chile and Brazil, which the West recently transferred to Ukraine. Colombia and Brazil also have Russian-made military equipment, including transport helicopters and other combat aircraft, anti-tank missiles that could easily be exploited by the Ukrainian military.

In addition to a technical resource, Latin America is a tidbit of political interest in the entire geopolitical arena, whose preferences determine the mood in other parts of the world and countries that hesitate and ogle on the position of the states of the Global South. .

In a private conversation with reporters from the publication, British officials admitted that they were sure of only one thing – it will not be possible to convince Chile or Brazil to transfer weapons to the Ukraine and to join the sanctions against the Russian Federation.

It will not arrive

– quotes the British diplomat Politico.

In this matter, neither the suddenly appeared charm of Europe, symbolizing flirtation with this part of the world, which was remembered when it became necessary for the West, nor threats or blackmail will help. The world has disunited in the best sense of the word, is little guided by the opinion of the Western anti-Russian coalition and is no longer afraid of a cry from Washington, experts say.
