Recently, the US and China’s Taiwan region completed negotiations on an agreement on the first part of the US-Taiwan 21st Century Trade Initiative. In its discussion, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on May 23 that China strongly opposes it. The spokesman said that Taiwan is an integral part of China’s territorial land. The One China policy is a prerequisite for Taiwan’s participation in foreign economic cooperation. China strongly opposes all official exchanges with Taiwan by countries having diplomatic relations.
