New Delhi. The Supreme Court has granted interim bail till July 11 to former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain on medical grounds in a money laundering case. A bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and PS Narasimha on Friday allowed Jain to undergo treatment in a hospital of his choice and asked him to produce the medical records by July 10.

Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the Enforcement Directorate (ED), sought Jain’s medical examination by doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) or Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital. He said that if the medical report states the need for treatment, then the investigating agency will not oppose it.

The bench said it would look into Jain’s medical examination by doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) or Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on the next date of hearing. He was arrested on May 30 last year on charges of extortion.

Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered an FIR against him in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He was granted regular bail by the trial court on September 6, 2019, in the case registered by the CBI.
