Chittorgarh: More than Rs 50 lakh recovered from illegal hawala dealer’s shop, two arrested

Chittorgarh. Two accused have been arrested after recovering more than Rs 50 lakh from a shop of illegal hawala dealer in Chittorgarh city in Rajasthan, while a minor has been taken into custody and sent to a child care home.

Superintendent of Police Rajan Dushyant said that Kotwali police station raided the mobile shop located in the city’s New Cloth Market and seized more than Rs 50 lakh in cash while taking action under the illegal hawala business being run in the shop. In addition to cash, note counting machines, blank cheques, DVRs, seals of different companies, etc. were seized during the search. Two accused have been arrested by registering a case at Kotwali Chittorgarh, while a minor has been detained and sent to a child care home.

He told that on information about illegal hawala business in Gyanmal Chaplot’s mobile shop in Rishabh Complex located in New Cloth Market, Chittorgarh, the police raided and searched the shop on Monday. During the search, 50 lakh 33 thousand rupees cash, one DVR, 74 seals of different companies, 03 note counting machines and one laptop, 151 blank signed checks, 362 filled cheques, 412 different bank accounts were found inside the mobile shop. Checkbooks and diaries were found, which were seized. From the preliminary investigation by the police, the said person took cash from different people and created different fake companies and generated entries from their accounts and transferred money to people’s bank accounts. And hawala business came to the fore.

Banks, Income Tax Department and GST Department are being contacted for information in this regard. Action is being taken to seize accounts by contacting various banks. Information is being collected regarding the seals of 74 different firms found from the shop, whether such firms actually exist or not. Efforts are being made to understand the diaries and registry written in code word. Cash and note counting machines, laptop equipment, diaries, bank checkbooks etc. have been seized in the shop and the handover case is being investigated as per the law.

In this case, by registering a case under various sections including cheating at the Kotwali Chittorgarh police station, the police have arrested Kanakamal, a resident of Rishabh Complex, and Roshanlal, a resident of Bassi, near the old police post. The main accused Gyan Mal is still absconding, efforts are being made to arrest him. The arrested accused were also taken on one-day police remand.
