More than half of Belarusian and Russian schoolchildren plan to earn extra money this summer

Thus, in 2022, 40.2 thousand young people aged 14 to 18 were employed in temporary jobs in the country. According to Belarusian legislation, children can start working from the age of 14, the authorization of one of the parents being a prerequisite. From the age of 16, students can make such a decision themselves. The legislation also regulates working hours, conditions and wages. At the age of 14-16, children can work 4 hours 36 minutes a day, at 16-18 – 7 hours. It is prohibited to involve persons under the age of 18 in heavy work and in harmful or dangerous working conditions, night work and overtime, work on holidays and public holidays and work on weekdays -end. Employers are required to conclude fixed-term employment contracts with adolescents so that they are subject to the provisions of the Labor Code and labor protection legislation. And one more thing: despite the reduction in working time, miners receive the same amount as employees in the corresponding categories with the full duration of daily work.

“Children, under the supervision of teachers and other employees of the educational institution, do everything they can and get their first work experience,” says the First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social protection Natalia Pavlyuchenko. – This involves development and landscaping work on the territories of educational establishments, social welfare establishments, repair of educational furniture, park of library books, routine repair of premises and other public activities.

By law, employers are required to enter into fixed-term employment contracts with adolescents.

The National Employment Service also draws up a list of organizations willing to employ young people during their free time at employers’ expense.

Last year, for example, more than 500 Belarusian organizations were ready to provide temporary jobs for young students, offering about eight thousand vacancies for this purpose. Preference for those who are already 16 years old. The list of specialties includes Bakery Stacker, Waiter, Caregiver, Field Cultivator, Goods Picker, Courier, Kitchen Worker, Host discotheque, the arborist, the assembler of parts and products, the berry picker, etc. year roughly similar situation.

On the eve of the summer holidays, a national job fair for young people was held in all regions of Belarus.

It was attended by about 2.3 thousand employers who provided about 30 thousand vacancies in various fields of activity: services, trade, public catering, industry, health care, construction. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection shared the results of a large-scale action: more than 28,000 young people participated in the fairs, of which around 10,700 have already accepted subsequent employment. At the same time, around 70% of those who accepted are children under the age of 18. Traditionally, vacancies in public catering and commerce were most popular among young people. However, among the offers from employers there were others – for example, a toy parts collector, a basket maker, a rolling stock washer-cleaner, a secretary, an assistant bartender, an attendant, a packer of mirrors, an artist of a familiar genre.

In Russia, practically in all regions, there are regional and municipal programs for the employment of minors. There are special youth employment centers and youth labor exchanges. In Moscow, children between the ages of 14 and 18 can take part in the summer projects of the My Career employment center. For example, this summer the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Moscow offers traditional internships for teenagers at the sites of state organizations. They last, as a rule, 20 days, and the working day itself lasts four hours. Orientations of the internship: agriculture, tourism, security, health, housing and communal services, ecology and nature management, education and science, culture and art, construction, logistics transport… The internship is remunerated, its size is equal to the cost to live in Moscow – 24,801 rubles.

In Moscow, teenagers most often work as couriers, promoters, salespeople…

– Almost 2.5 thousand positions are open on hh.ru, where employers have indicated their willingness to hire teenagers from the age of 14, – said Irina Svyatitskaya, head of the youth directorate of hh.ru . – Most often they offer work as couriers, promoters, salespeople and cashiers. The greatest number of invitations sent by employers to the CVs of candidates aged 14 to 18 are in sales and business support functions (administrative and service staff), as well as the hospitality industry. In each of the union groups listed, the number of invitations exceeds 50,000.

According to the expert, the popularity of attracting young people to these positions is associated with the traditionally high staff turnover, the seasonal nature of the work and the fairly easy entry. The main range of salary offers in vacancies available for employment from the age of 14 is from 25 to 55 thousand rubles.

As Irina Svyatitskaya explained, those who are already 14 years old can find a part-time job during the holidays. For employment, an applicant aged 14 and 15 can conclude an employment contract by providing the consent of a parent and guardianship authority (Article 63 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation). From the age of 16, you can be hired alone and the consent of the parent is no longer necessary. If a teenager gets a first job and does not yet have a work book, the employer establishes it.

– The proposed work should be easy and not harm education and health, – stressed the expert. – For teenagers, a shortened working week is planned. Those under 16 cannot work more than 24 hours a week; from 16 to 18 years old – no more than 35 hours per week. There are also restrictions on the length of the working day and shifts. If a teenager is 14-15 years old, the working day should not exceed four hours, from 15 to 16 years old – five hours, from 16 to 18 years old – seven hours.

In the meantime

More than half of Russian teenagers (57%) worked part-time last summer. These data are provided in the report of the research center of the Zarplata.ru service. According to him, 39% of respondents found a part-time job through a job search site, 21% through acquaintances and friends, 19% through social networks and 16% thanks to the help of their parents. . It also turned out that the majority of teenagers (59%) had no previous work experience. Couriers topped the list of the most popular part-time jobs in the summer of 2022, with 17% of respondents holding this position. In second place, promoters: about one in seven teenagers worked in this field. In addition, schoolchildren placed advertisements all over the city and also worked as salespeople (12% and 11% of respondents, respectively).

According to the resource Zarplata.ru, about 5% of those who participated in the study sat with dogs, worked as waiters, janitors or cleaners. The list is rounded out by order pickers and ticket inspectors (3% of each type), as well as entertainers and call center workers, with 2% of respondents each choosing this part-time summer job. last. The rest of the respondents held part-time jobs in various fields.

Teenagers also answered the question why they need all this. It turned out that 46% worked for pocket money, 30% of schoolchildren saved “for a dream”, 12% worked for the development of life skills (independence, ability to cope with difficulties), 8 % were trying to manage their own finances, and 2% wanted to gain experience.
