Airfare hiked! Continuously increasing air fare, up to 300 percent costlier on these routes

Airfare Hike in India: GoFirst had canceled all its flights on 3rd May due to poor financial condition. In such a situation, people are facing a lot of trouble during the summer holidays.

Spot airfares have increased manifold on many routes. According to media reports, data from different travel portals has shown that despite the efforts of DGCA, passengers on many routes have to pay heavy airfares.

Air fare became expensive by 30 to 40 percent

The director of Federation of Association in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH) said that for the next few days, passengers are not going to get any relief in airfares. Significantly, the current air fare has become costlier by 30 to 40 percent as compared to the pre-Corona period. In such a situation, people will have to loosen their pockets more to travel on many routes during the summer holidays.

First go crisis increased the problem

Significantly, the airlines company Go First Crisis, which is going through a bad financial condition, had applied to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on 2 May for bankruptcy. After this, the company had stopped operating flights of all its routes from 3 May.

Passengers are unable to get flights on many routes due to the cancellation of more than 300 flights in the last one month by the company providing cheap air services. On the other hand, the airfares on these routes are skyrocketing. Because of this it is affecting other airlines as well.

The highest airfare increased on these routes-

Delhi-Mumbai, Srinagar-Delhi, Mumbai-Goa, Patna-Delhi, Delhi-Pune, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Bengaluru-Mumbai, Delhi-Leh, Delhi-Ahmedabad and Mumbai-Chandigarh routes will be operated by GoFirst in 2022 but, done Went. In such a situation, the maximum increase in air fares has been seen on these routes only. According to the data of the online portal, 337.5% on Delhi-Ahmedabad route, 201.9% on Delhi-Pune route, 94.8% on Kolkata-Ahmedabad route, 84.2% on Kolkata-Bengaluru route, 32.2% on Delhi-Srinagar route, Delhi-Leh route 18.6 per cent on the route and 8.3 per cent on the Bengaluru-Mumbai route.

After the intervention of the government, these routes got some relief.

Air India and Indigo are trying to increase the number of their flights on many demand routes like Delhi, Goa, Ahmedabad, Pune. Due to this, there will be some reduction in air fares on these routes. At the same time, the government had recently asked airlines companies to increase air fares in a restrained manner. After the intervention of the government, a drop of 10 to 15 percent has been recorded in the air fares on some routes. Air fares have been cut by 10 per cent on the Delhi-Leh route, 11 per cent on the Delhi-Srinagar route, 12 per cent on the Mumbai-Srinagar route and 12 per cent on the Delhi-Pune route.
